The email you receive
The funeral home enters your email address and we send you a message headed "Funeral home handed you a notice on inmemory.lk", with a Review hand-off button. You do not need an account beforehand.
- The link works for seven days.
- Only the newest link works. If the funeral home sends it again, the earlier email stops working.
- If you have turned off "A funeral home offers you a notice" in your profile, no email is sent — the offer still appears under Hand-offs in your account.
Accepting it
-
1
Open the link
Choose Review hand-off in the email. You will see which notice it is.
-
2
Sign in with the same address
Use the account for the email address the funeral home entered. No account yet? Choose Create an account — the address is filled in and confirmed for you.
-
3
Choose Accept ownership
The notice opens in your account, ready to edit.
Already signed in? The offer is also waiting under Hand-offs in your account, with Accept and Decline beside it.
Once it is yours
You can
Edit the notice and its events, approve or hide tributes, render artwork and add live streams.
The funeral home
Is still credited on the public notice, but can no longer edit it or see its private details.
Accepting is final
There is no way to hand a notice back once you accept it. If you would rather the funeral home kept looking after it, decline instead — nothing about the notice changes.
If something goes wrong
The link has expired
Ask the funeral home to send a new one. Until you accept, they still manage the notice.
It went to the wrong address
Ask the funeral home to send it again to the address you sign in with. The old link stops working.
You are signed in as someone else
The page offers Switch account, which signs you out and brings you back to the offer.
Nothing arrived
Check spam, then Hand-offs in your account. If it is not there either, ask the funeral home which address they used.
