Asking us to take it down
A notice that has not been published yet can be deleted from your account: open it and choose Delete draft. Once a notice is published, write to us and a person will take it down.

Say whether to hide it or delete it
A hidden notice stays in your account to read but can no longer be edited. A deleted one is gone for good.

We take it down and tell you
If a funeral is in the next day or two, say so in the title and we will move it to the front of the queue.
If the notice is not yours and should not be up — the person is alive, the details are false, or it was posted without the family's agreement — use Report this notice on the notice itself. Reports go straight to the review team.
If only part of it should go
You may not need to remove the whole notice. Its owner can, at any time and without asking us:
- Remove the portrait.
- Take a name out of "Survived by", or reword the notice text.
- Hide an event, or show only the venue's name instead of its address.
- Hide a tribute that is already showing.
Our guide to correcting a notice explains where each of these lives.
What disappears straight away
- The notice page. Anyone who opens the link is told the page cannot be found.
- The short link and the QR code on printed handouts. They stop opening anything.
- Tributes. They are no longer shown anywhere.
- Listings. The notice leaves the notices list, the sitemap we give search engines, and the Following lists of people who followed it — and they stop receiving anniversary reminders for it.
You can still open the notice from your own account, so nothing the family wrote is lost.
What we cannot reach
- Emails, WhatsApp messages and printouts that were already sent or made.
- Screenshots, and artwork images people have downloaded or shared.
- Copies of the notice on other websites or in newspapers.
Search results
A search engine may keep showing the notice in its results for a while after the page has gone. It drops out the next time the search engine checks the page and finds nothing there — usually within a few weeks.
Deleting it for good
Taking a notice down hides it. If you want it erased, ask us to delete it. Deleting removes the notice together with its tributes, its events, its followers and its portrait, and it cannot be undone.
The one exception: if someone has reported the notice, we keep a hidden record of it so the report can be reviewed. It is never shown publicly again.
