Make the change yourself
Whoever owns the notice can edit it at any time, including after it is published. There is no second review — saved changes appear on the public notice immediately.

1
Open your notices
Sign in and go to Notices in your account, then open the notice.
-
2
Choose Edit details
The editor opens on the obituary. Use the steps on the left to reach events, the resting place or documents.

Correct it and save
Change only what is wrong. The public notice shows the new version as soon as it is saved.
The obituary step holds the name, the dates of birth and death, the notice text, the portrait and the family listed under "Survived by". Times and places of the funeral are under Funeral events, and the burial or cremation site under Final resting place.
Open your noticesWhat stays the same
Correcting the name does not change the notice's address, and it does not change its
short link — the n.inmemory.lk code made from the initials and the year,
which is what the QR code on any printed handout opens. That code is fixed when the
notice is first made so that handouts already printed keep working, so after a name
correction it may still show the old initials. Nobody reading the notice will see it.
Worth checking afterwards
- Artwork. Images you downloaded before the correction keep the old wording, so download them again before you print or share. If the card was the notice picture, the notice shows the photograph until you open Artwork designs, which updates the picture for you.
- Copies people already have. Emails, printouts and screenshots made before the correction keep the old details — we cannot reach them.
- Other notices. If a newspaper or another site carries the same notice, the correction has to be made there too.
If a date or a time changed
People who already planned around the old details are not emailed when you edit a notice. Tell them directly — a message in the family group with the notice link is usually enough.
When to ask us instead
A funeral home posted it
Until the funeral home hands the notice to you, they manage it. Ask them to make the change, or to hand it over so you can.
The notice is archived
Archived notices are read-only. Tell us what needs correcting and we will do it for you.
You cannot see the notice
If someone else in the family owns it, they can edit it. If nobody can, we can help.
The editor will not save
Tell us what you tried to change and what it said. We will make the change and look into why.
Write to us from Help & support in your account and choose "Editing or correcting a notice". Pick the notice from the list and we will see its whole history without needing a link.
